I have a current 3.75 (4.15 weighted) GPA at a college prep private school. I got a 1330 on the PSAT with no prep, and I’m currently prepping a ton for the SAT and ACT so I’m hoping to improve that by over a hundred possibly. I have excellent EC’s (two jobs, one of architectural photography, internship with creative development team for large non profit, internship this summer with large architectural firm, likely head prefect at my school senior year, volunteered many hours at church on creative production team…). I also know that most of these schools place alot of weight on portfolios, so I’m working many months in advance on it to have the best chance. I will apply to cornell ED so I have the best chance as well. Unfortunately, I haven’t taken any AP classes until next year, where I will be taking a ton (AP Calc, APES, AP Phys, AP English, AP CompSci *=maybe), but I’ve taken almost all Honors classes in everything except english. I’m pretty sure I can get into UNCC and probably NCSU because they are a little easier to get into, but if I can, I would love to go to Cornell or Rice or somewhere more prestigious. So what do y’all think are my chances of getting into these colleges?? Thanks!
You are currently a junior? You have not taken any APs through junior year but are possibly taking 5 senior year? You should speak to your college counselor about this. You will have college apps/ portfolios to work on in addition to your classes and this is ambitious for someone who has never taken an AP class. Also, you are applying to UNC-CH and NCSU as an in-state or out of state student?
I will apply in state to NCSU and UNCC (UNC Charlotte) not UNCCH. After talking to college counselor, I will almost definitely not take AP CompSci, and likely will not take AP English, because english doesn’t really pertain to Architecture. It’s also worth noting that I will have basically two study halls next year as well, so HW load won’t be as much of an issue.
look at CMU
You will probably have to explain why you didn’t take any AP classes in your first 3 years of HS to stand a chance at Cornell/Rice
