Architecture?

you going to Cornell I suppose?

Jrock, why don't you go to Cambridge for architecture?

MIT is best for architecture. One of the best architect, I.M. Pei went there. Going anywhere else for architecture is a failure no matter what grades are acheived.

Yeah, I.M.Pei is one of the best, but not the absolute best.
And MIT, which used to be one of the best and is still one of the best.
No matter which school these BEST architects went to, the BEST is always the BEST.

How good is an architecture graduate from Wentworth Institute of Technology?

Compared to one from Massachusetts Institute of Technology?

How long does an architecture degree takes to complete?

Im going to Rice University.....and MIT is NOT the best for architecture- neither at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Cornell is probably the best for undergrads (couldnt got there, no aid!), and Harvard GSD for grads. But there is no absolute best, its what you make of it.

DUDE, I.M. PEI, one of the very best, went there. Enuff sed.

just because someone who is good went there, dosent make it a good school you uneducated moron.
im not saying IM Pei isnt good (hes great), just that MIT is not the best, especially at the undergrad level.

Then go to MIT for both undergrad and grad. I.M.Pei did and look how he turned out.

and jimminy, I thought Cornell was especially generous with fin-aid. Rice is equally good though, if not better.

to SSJ2MysticGohanX1000: It's not where you go that matters, it's what lies 'upstairs' that does. There are several GREAT architects who didn't even go to arch school.

yeah, FLW, i have this whole summer to think deep and re-evaluate everything about me. i need to know what I really want to study and set realistic goals... let's wait and see!!

I.M. PEI WENT TO MIT. HE WAS THE VERY BEST. Enuff sed.

no disputing the fact that Pei is a world-renowned architect. no disputing the fact that MIT is a great school. But there is absolutely no correlation between how good you are and where you study.

Guys, I.M Pei went to U. Penn. first, and he transferred to MIT just because he's not a good artist(U. Penn.'s arch school was adopted from Beaux Art in Paris). I remembered that I.M. Pei's most unforgetable expereice was nothing to do with MIT,but his childhood in China influenced his career mostly.

wow!! I was so wrong! I thought Cornell had all the dough in the world for int'ls.

Well, I have to think about some other schools, everything at Cornell is tough.
What kind of fin aid. does Cornell offer, full scholarships?

I never went to Cornell for an interview. Though, I went to IIT for one and I was just trying to relate the experience. Be ready to answer any question you can thiink of. My interviewer asked me piercing questions about skyscrapers simply because there was a drawing/model of one in my portfolio. Piercing questions. Apart from that, he asked about my environment in terms of socio-political relations, ethno-religious issues, safety in design (and my, he really dwelt on safety, and I had nothing much to say).

Since I couldn't attend a Cornell interview (better I didn't), I had to write five essays (total 3 pages) along with the portfolio.

Just calm down. Cool down. Everything at Cornell is not tough. You shouldn't make such a conclusion. It's not smooth-sailiing either but nothing should bother you if that's your first choice.

I chose to post the reply to your question on this thread so as not to obstruct the flow of thought on the Portfolio thread.

yea....i had to answer those five questions too.....
i hate Cornell...stingy bastards.

wat the heck...only 14 people got into USC for architecture? seems amazingly small..... sadly i didnt take up their offer cuz i didnt want to go to USC. so im guessing only 12 people max are going into architecture there? (since im not giong and jrock isnt going either) that's so weird.......

and the cornell interview was pretty easy for me, he didnt ask much about architecture itself, but was more interested in personality and my art portfolio. good thing too, cuz i pretty much know nothing about architecture. :P

yeah, i'm still finding that very hard to believe. but then, if it's not as good as others, selectivity doesn't count. How many applied to the School of Architecture?
