I'm choosing between UPenn, WashU, and Rice University, and I know that WashU and Rice have great architecture programs, but does anyone have any information specifically about WashU's undergraduate architecture program or anything about Penn's, or Rice's? It would be greatly appreciated!

What specifically do you want to know?

I’m going to WashU next year for architecture, so I’ll tell you the few things I have heard.
WashU’s arch program is more design-based than it is technically-based. If you want to look more at engineering aspects instead of design-aspects, WashU is NOT for you. Also, if you want a pre-professional degree, WashU is not your best bet. You can do a WashU 4+2 program, but that’s an extra year.
The first year is mainly 2-D design, a lot of learning about design processes and working with materials. You also have the freedom to take classes outside of arch. The second and third years allow less freedom when it comes to other classwork. These two years can be very intense, so you will have little time outside the studio to do other activities, unless you can go on little sleep. The fourth year you can choose between pursuing a B.A. in arch or a B.S. in arch. The B.A. arch allows for one to pursue a second major or a minor, while the B.S. arch doesn’t allow for this freedom, but prepares you for a 4+2 program.

Oh, thank you for that information! It does help me a lot, Thanks for replying!
