I know that you are admitted as to the student body, not a major. However, does being a female with experience in STEM and planning on studying computer give an advantage in admissions?
no
Probably not at Stanford but definitely at Caltech and MIT.
Common Data set for Stanford, published by Stanford, shows that less girls apply and more got in, in 2016,
so there may be a slight advantage to being a girl and applying to Stanford as a whole. This is not broken down by Engineering, versus Arts and Sciences, but you can see all the data here for 2016 -2017. I think the easiest way to get into Stanford might be to be a recruited athlete today, as academically its very hard to get into Stanford, without a hook like athletics or a national award in something. Historic Data admissions stats, called the Common Data Set, including gender data to see the trends on gender
over the years.
Maybe but the student would have to be a national caliber athlete to be recruited. There is no easy pathway.
