Are any more juniors getting COMPLETELY sick of high school?

thisyearsgirl- i agree completely with (almost everything) you said. my jr class is bigger than yours (there are about 100 of us), but i've gone to school with a lot of them since 6th grade, and a good portion of them aren't very cool people anyway. i mean, i get really excited when i meet someone who doesn't smoke weed all the time. it's sort of rare :)

to be perfectly honest, one of the things about high school that's really starting to get to me (besides the abysmal academics, that is) is the boy situation. my school, being an arts magnet, has a very skewed girl-to-guy ratio (probably almost 2:1 in my grade), and many of the boys are gay. the few straight guys who aren't morons and/or stoners are taken most of the time. so not that much selection. frustrating, to say the least.

homework+projects+restricted social life+waking up at an ungodly hour= groan

SOOOOO BURNT OUT!!!!!!!

6 midterms + SATs in the same week = so f-ing sick of school! im so glad im on february break finally

i hear alot of districts are thinking "well kids have to get up in the morning so early, maybe we should have school start later."

its all bs. it means we'll get out of school later too, at like 4:30.

we need shorter school days and less of them. its as simple as that
we can all thank the government for requiring 180 days of school K-12.

so much ****ing wasted time.

you are the best Xe...A
i just wish the gov't would get your POV because you're completely right.
i find it sooo hard to make it through a week sometimes because i only get 3-4 hrs sleep each night and run 3 seasons of track so im so exhausted....i'd be much happier in school & healthier if the school year was shorter or the day was at least shorter

We should have school from 10AM to 3PM.

9:15-9:55 (optional) period 0
10:00-10:40 period 1
10:45-11:25 period 2
11:30-12:10 period 3
12:15-12:40 lunch
12:45-1:25 period 4
1:30-2:10 period 5
2:15-2:55 period 6
3:00-3:40 (optional) period 7

OR, on block scheduling from 9-2:30:

9:00-10:10 period 1(5)
10:15-11:25 period 2 (6)
11:30-12:40 period 3 (7)
12:45-1:20 lunch
1:25-2:35 period 4 (8)
2:40-3:50 (optional) period 5(9)
(classes would be held every other day here, Monday thru Thurs)

you are a genius, ihateCA.
my school is flat out evil....i start a 7:30 and end at 2:54. i dont have block scheduling so i have 9 periods: 7 core classes, 1 lunch, 1 gym/health EVERYDAY :( :(

arg.. losing sooo much motivation second sem of junior year.. this should be the sem. when i try the hardest, but i cant bring myself to care.. blah..

I only have 6 periods. MY school has a thing called RP (Responsibility Pass). So if you get a 3.0 or higher, you can get your study hall peroid off. You can leave campus go home do whatever, you aren't required to be on the ground. Luckily for me, i got a 7th hour study hall so im done with school at 2:30 everyday for the rest of the year.

Ahhhhh, feels so good.

Yeah I remember junior year was a killer. I'm much more relaxed as a senior but I still can't wait to get my HS diploma.

Two benefits of being a junior at my school: FREE PERIODS and OFF-CAMPUS PRIVILEGES, as opposed to five straight periods. This is my schedule.

There is also the fact that, in 9th grade, I was taking 8 academic courses and 4 "electives" (some of which, e.g. physical education, were mandatory)... in 10th grade, 7 academics and 3 "electives"... in 11th and 12th, 6 academics, one elective, and TOK.

So in that sense I'm more relaxed, in that I'm taking fewer courses (8 instead of 12), I spend less time in class (35 hours per 8 days, instead of 40), and I have free periods when I can do things like go out for lunch with friends, do homework, or just relax. The actual workload is increasing, but I think it's worth it, considering the benefits.

wow! that's completely unfair! We have no off-campus priveleges or off periods until senior year, and advisory is always mandatory...
ugh
