Are asian considered URMs at Boston College?

hello all, I would like to ask a simple question. Are asiana considered URMs at boston college? Would they receive a boost during admissions for being asian?

I believe that URM includes, African Americans, Hispanic/Latino and Native Americans. I don’t believe that Asians are considered an under-represented minority. If anything Asians may be over-represented - Asians are approximately 5% of the US population whereas they comprise nearly 10% of the BC population. Given those statistics it’s difficult to see how being Asian will be a boost to your application.

Damn. Gotcha.

On a side note, I have a 3.5 uw and 4.1 weighted gpa, along with a 2120 sat score and 760, 770, and 660 sat subject test scores. do i you think those stats are good enough for BC?

Being Asian has a catch-22. You are not considered a URM but you are counted as URM for statistical purposes (to boost URM numbers).

URM, no. But, in my opinion, colleges such as BC are looking to expand their diversity, by adding ‘people of color’. Thus, I disagree with vince and believe that being Asian is likely a small plus factor.

Your gpa is on the low side, however.

Asians are not URM and are not counted for URM statistical purposes. And your stats are in the match category. Apply to more schools just incase.
