Are honours classes THAT important.

Hello. I am in grade 9 now and I just can't decide what to do. I plan on becoming a lawyer in the future so my undergrad has to be an art but I good at math. Since I came late to the school year (1 month ago), I couldn't get into any honours. The math we have is extremely easy for me so I was thinking about giving the placement exam and finishing math 10 this year and taking math 11 in summer and then taking AP math 12 in grade 10 then going in the IB diploma program in grade 11-12 I could easily get an A in these courses but my grade 9 10 and 11 math would be regular not advanced. Which is more valuable to an Ivy.

BTW What is a base salary for a Harvard lawyer?

They’re /sort of/ important (GPA wise). But AP/IB classes are more important than honors. Keep in mind though, ivy leagues look at a whole lot more than just GPA and test scores.

And IIRC, base salary depends on the law firm, not the place where you got the degree from.

You need all twenty plus AP classes to get into Harvard. What are you wasting your time with Honours classes for, no Ivy League for you. And—since I know want to know a secret—the starting salary for a “Harvard lawyer” is a little over 1,500,000 USD per annum plus sign-on bonus.

You’re hopeless. Drop out now.

… because I hope that this be a joke.

If this is serious, yes, what you are doing is good. As far as math goes, since you want to be a lawyer and I assume not a STEM major, as long as you get to IB Math HL or even just Calc BC by junior year, you should be fine unless your school regularly has people taking even higher level courses sophomore year, which to my knowledge is quite rare.

Math majors are among the top scorers on the LSAT for law school admission. Note that law schools do not require any particular undergraduate major.

Penlover: you’re being mocked for asking your question "What is a base salary for a Harvard lawyer? " in such a casual manner.

It’s akin to asking what is the base salary for a Premier League footballer or NBA starting center.
