Literally I have the most retarded teacher who gives no f**** about how his students score. But since physics I is a relatively new test with such a low 5 rate, how can I prepare? I do not have a competent teacher and I have no idea how I’m going to pull it off. HELP MY FORMER AP PHYSICS 1-ERS!!
Your best option is to self study and so, I would highly recommend purchasing 5 Steps to a 5 for reviewing key concepts and the AP Physics 1 Essentials Guide for the nitty gritty details. I am pretty sure you still have a good chance of getting a 5, its just a matter of how much work and how much of an initiative you will take to get the 5. My AP Physics 1 teacher got a phd from MIT and we all thought we would be set for the test, but he covered the topics so slowly that we did not have enough time to cover all the concepts. And when I realized that, it was too late, but regardless I used AP Physics 1 Essentials to review torque and rotational dynamics as well as the entirety of the 5 steps to a 5 guide and they were good enough prep to get me a 4 on the exam. However, had I given myself a minimum of 2+ months to study, I am sure I would have gotten a 5 because come time on the test I had no clue on the waves concepts of AP Physics 1 and we even had a frq on that and because I did not have enough time to actually practice questions, I couldn’t finish the free response questions with a good pace. So bottomline make a good plan to cover these two books for next several months and make sure you get a lot of practice!! Since you said your teacher was horrible, use the college board website for released questions, supplemental questions on aplusphysics, and njctl’s website for notes and more practice problems. Good luck!
AHH thank u! @ro2400
No problemo
Just study hard (although I didn’t).
I got a 5, so there is a hope.
Just wanted to update this thread. Studied hard all year, reviewed like crazy a month leading up to the exam (and I mean like two hours/day). Still got a 2. Lol. If you don’t have a good teacher, you’re pretty much screwed. No way to self-study this exam unless you truly have a knack for this subject.
