Are my scores good? What was your test taking strategy and scores??? What works???

OK here are my scores

Writing 610---essay 8
Right: 38, Wrong: 3, Omitted: 8

May 1620
CR 550 (down 20 pts)

Math 510 (same)

Writing 560---essay 6 (down 50 pts)
Right: 38, Wrong: 9, Omitted: 2

I took an SAT prep class last year and it didn't seem to help at all. Maybe with the writing some but not at all with the other stuff. My teachers said to skip them if you don't know it, and that seems to not help my scores. Would guessing be better? My scores dropped or stayed the same the second time, meaning their advice must suck.

Is December a good time to take it over? Or is that too late because of college applications???

What was your strategy and scores? How many did you omit? WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST STRATEGY? (and tell me if there's a specific strategy for math, I really would like to improve that the most...how did you study for it?)

ANY ADVICE IS HELPFUL!

If you can omit one, guess.
For Math you need to understand concepts or you won't do well. For instance by a prep. book (the big blue collegeboard book) study the math concepts well, and that should take care of that. For CR .. try to like read the passages with a passion or something that makes you excited about it. For writing you have to learn the types of errors.

Actually, just guess anyway. There is no mathematical point penalty for guessing, you just come out at even. So trust your subconscious to see something that you don't, and guess.

You can certanly omit ?s, but 17,18 ?s are a bit harsh don't you think?... That's a GUARANTEED score below 600. Tips for math: Barron's and Dr. Grubers. Writing: Just practice out of the Blue Book and some other prep. comp. books if that isn't enough. CR: tons of hints/advice about the section on this forum; I suggest using blue book again and analyzing every question that you get right AND wrong. Good luck.
