Your right in there. Applying ED would help because CMU looks at demonstrated interest. Good luck to you.

Looks like you are in the game. CMU gives “points” for demonstrated interest, so visit, interview etc.

@TiggyB62 I will definitely interview and I plan on visiting but not on a day that they have a tour (since the tours are now finished. Do you know if there is an option on the App that allows me to tell CMU that I visited?

They will know that you visited if you signed up for an OFFICIAL VISIT. If you just go to campus and walk around and do a self tour, then the admissions office won’t know you were there. The more you show interest, the more points you get. My D went to a “CMU in your hometown” session. Adcoms came to a hotel in downtown Chicago and held an info session which we went to. We did this in addition to an official campus visit in Pittsburgh and interview. At the hotel session, you pre-register and then when you sign in, they check off your name. This all goes to demonstrated interest.

@TiggyB62 Is there any way I can go to the campus not for an official visit and write my named down? I may be able to attend an off campus visit but I have already signed up for 5-6 for other schools all during the month of september…

Also another question. My CR+M scores on the SAT are good,but my writing score is pretty poor. Do you know how much this could affect me in admissions? Do you know if Tepper cares a lot about SAT writing?

I’m not really sure about the writing requirement for Tepper. You might want to scour the website to see if you can glean an info, or else try calling admissions. Your phone call will count towards your interest! To answer your first question, I think you really should have an official visit, but if you stop in the admissions office and request info, then maybe they will take your name etc.

@TiggyB62 unfortunately I couldn’t visit during a tour partially because I live 5 and a half hours away. I may call/email to show interest though. Thanks
