<p>I'd imagine that because everybody takes his (her) studies seriously, a student in the library is there to do work. Once someone runs into someone else whom the former knows, do they start talking or courteously remain quiet? </p>

<p>So… basically you’re asking if there is anyone out there who has personally visited the libraries of each of the Ivy League school campuses and taken surveys of how frequently people talk to each other within the library while studying?</p>
<p>Seems like a perfectly reasonable question.</p>
<p>But to better answer njd’s concerns: YES all top colleges have quiet areas and some have more “chatty” areas. You just need to know where they are.</p>
