As the title says, are SAT classes helpful? I don't know if I should take on or not. They are so damn expensive.

No, teach yourself with a prep book. You'll get the same information they teach you at a class. For $20.

Best of all, you learn on your own schedule. Many people reel in fantastic scores without ever taking a class.

The only helpful part about them is that they force you to allot certain amounts of time toward studying. But if you can find a way to motivate yourself to put in the time with a prep book and some practice tests, it'll be infinitely more helpful.

I concur. Also you can breeze through things that come easily to you rather than be forced to devote 4 hours of your time to something you already know. This gives you more time to focus on the things you're having the most trouble with me.

I took a class and felt it was a waste of time half of the time. But, I admit I would have never found the time to study for the test. But still, not worth it.

Self-study is the way to go. Those class fees truly are ridiculous and not worth the money or time.

amen. i'm the most retarded idiot i know

i got a 1510 the first time i took the psat (freshie year)

i taught myself every single sat prep book (very motivated person)
and i got a 221 soph year, and now i'm eagerly awaiting my wed psat scores...

Interesting how only one of the answers is from someone who's taken a course...
