Are schools actually "need-blind"?

The vast majority of public Us are need blind. Costs are already lower for in-state students and they don’t care if an OOS student has trouble paying. They’d like the extra $ but it’s not their primary mission. And there are more public Us than private Us. http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0908742.html Not an up to date number but still a reasonable proxy.

@happy1: I’m sorry – I don’t mean to be putting words in your mouth. However, your list clearly is a list of schools that are BOTH need blind and will meet full demonstrated need.

This is a very small subset of colleges that are need-blind. The fact is most colleges that are need blind do NOT meet full demonstrated need – evidenced by the few dozen in your wiki page. However, practically every single public uni and community college in the country are need blind for admissions. Plus many privates.

The OP asked if many colleges are need-blind. The answer is absolutely YES. Thousands upon thousands are need-blind. Only a few dozen are both need blind AND will meet full demonstrated need.

@T26E4‌ - NP. And I do think the article I posted describes the differences (need blind, demonstrated need etc.) you noted and if you scroll down it does list schools that are need blind for admissions but do not meet demonstrated need. I cannot attest to if the list on Wikipedia is complete or not.
