I took AP exams in US History, Spanish, and English over the past 2 years, and I think I want to take SAT IIs for the same subjects. Are AP multiple choice questions similar to SAT questions? How are they different when it comes to content and difficulty? Do you have to study differently for an SAT II test compared to an AP exam?

Speaking from my own experience, US history is far easier. I got a 3 on the AP exam (I had a 99 in APUSH…I’m still bitter about this) but then a 780 on the subject test with no additional studying. Literature is similar to the AP English exams and the SAT critical reading because it’s all Collegeboard, but I would suggest picking up a study book for it because there are differences depending on how your AP teacher taught it. As for Spanish, I don’t know anything, sorry!

Hmm, I feel my experience has been a bit different. I got a 5 on the APUSH exam, but I didn’t feel like my APUSH class and the USH subject test really aligned that well. Can’t speak for literature because I didn’t take it, but I know that the AP Lang exam and SAT critical reading do have similar types of questions in regards to passage-based; I can’t imagine the literature being much different from SAT critical reading.

I do not know if either of you used Sparknotes to study for the history test, but if you did, is it as effective as buying a book?
