I myself never really considered attaching an extra sheet of paper describing my ECs in detail, but a lot of people on CC seem to be thinking of doing it.

For those who have been accepted to top-schools, is this commonly done? Or is it one of those things that are done only by insecure people...

I guess 7 slots for EC is little, but I just don't see how attaching more paperwork is going to help - isn't there a saying? thick file=thick applicant?

I didn’t attach anything, just made brief mention on some of my other activities in the “additional information” section. I don’t see it being necessary since they obviously provide you with the 7 slots for a reason: to show what you’re most passionate about. I don’t think it matters too much.

If you have something specific and relevant that requires a supplement then yes do it. For example, I send copies of a 20 page research paper on 3 years of work I did during high school. Did it help or did they just throw it away? Idk. I asked a couple admins before sending to some of the colleges and they said to go ahead and send it if I felt it was relevant so I did. It’s a judgment call on toeing the line between giving them more info to evaluate you or sending them something useless in a last ditch effort to make the cut.
