Hawkette-The erroneous info that I am referring to is that, in your opinion, PA is "bunk." While I am quite sure that there are points of difference when assessing PA, and that it is perhaps not a perfect number, at least it is a number assigned by educational professionals...people who are deemed knowledgable enough to give a credible opinion. You refuse to see that your opinion is not based on anything credible by comparison. My problem with your constant harping on this issue has nothing to do with individual schools. It has to do with tearing down the trust of the readership in those estimations. Don't you see that those opinions have far more validity than any lay person's? And, believe me, my profession notwithstanding, I do consider myself amongst the lay population when it comes to assessing top colleges and universities. I do trust that those people who are asked to make the peer assessments know far more than I, and I therefore have reasonable faith in their insights. Do you know that, when ranking all the top schools nationally, the European ratings give 40% weight to PA? It seems that here in the US, some of us are losing complete faith in any sort of authority.

The impression that you give is that you are an authority, when I don't believe that you are. Are you? Is there something you are not revealing to the readership? There are impressionable kids and nervous first time college- bound kids' parents devouring the info on this site. Should they believe the professionals? Should they trust the professionals? Clearly, you are advising them not to. This is what I refer to as erroneous information. You are obviously quite smart, which comes across in your posts. That is precisely why the sort of bias you are putting out there seems so dangerous to me.
I absolutely do not begrudge you your opinion. What I am concerned about is the constant emphasis you place on influencing the readership not to trust the people who should know.
A curious question. Do you have children in college?
