Remember the litmus test: this essay is supposed to give them a reason to say yes to your application. We want the reader to finish your essay and think: “Now THAT’S a kid I want to meet.”

Now let’s revisit your choices:

  1. Nope. Not time for true confessions. They don’t want someone whose selling point is that they don’t fit in.
  2. Maybe. But you’ll want to talk about YOU, not about food. And keep an eye on the eating disorder message.
  3. How do those characters make you a good applicant for my school?
