I'm looking at applying to these colleges and would be interested to hear any information you may have regarding their admissions policies towards homeschoolers. Thanks!

Amherst College
Stanford University
Brown University
Macalester College
Hampshire College
Western Washington University/Fairhaven College
The Evergreen State College
University of Massachusetts Amherst
Portland State University

The top 5 on your list sent info to my homeschooled son based on ACT or PSAT scores, so I would think so. He put homeschool codes in for both tests. We aren’t seriously considering any of those 5, so I can’t offer any more on them, but my son loves Macalester’s letters the best for their humor! It did get him looking twice at that college, but he wants other things.

My son was admitted to Amherst several years ago, and Amherst used to post admissions rates by type of school on its website. Maybe they still do. The years I followed it, home schoolers were admitted at the same rate or higher than the overall admissions rate. I also advised a local student to drop out of high school and home school. He attended and graduated from Amherst. But he applied about 5 years ago.
I have a sense that schools in upper New England don’t automatically assume that home schoolers are motivated by religion. But that’s just a guess. My son was admitted to Williams and Dartmouth as well. Maybe they have experience with aging hippie parents?
Stanford has a long-standing reputation as being open to home schoolers.
A Brown parent used to post here, but my impression isn’t good. There may be a political test to pass there. But I really don’t know, and if you are interested, of course apply. My daughter attended a school without a big home school tradition.
I don’t have any experience with the other schools listed.
