Hey guys do u know of any students who were admitted into top schools after doing international A Levels of University of cambridge???....are there any schools at USA which offer International A Levels????......and wht iz the impression of this examination system in USA????

Come on guys not a single reply…

If you complete your A-lvls until the AS examination, you are at par with a high school graduate in the US, but if you go on and complete the A2 examination, you can transfer the credits to your college here and apply as a transfer student.

No - you still apply as a freshman, but you get credits or placement out of intro courses.

I don’t know how Cambridge International Examinations A Levels are viewed, but A Levels are well-regarded in general, save for one sticking point - grade inflation. I believe CIE may be exempted from that accusation, but I’m not sure (nor is there reason to believe universities may know the difference).

@super leader
A Level students routinely get into the top colleges…every year almost 20 go to the top 10 universities in the world frm Pakistan and of those 95% r alevel ppl…u can come to the pakistani thread to talk to such alevel students applyin and gettin in…but even for alevel students their stellar alevel and olevel must be coupled with near perfect SATs in case of Top US Colleges

I guess phantompong is right.

The Cambridge A-levels is a highly reputable program all around the world so don’t worry

hey guys. I’ve got a question.

I am also currently studying a-levels. though I am one of the top students in my school but since there aren’t many schools offering this kind of program in China, I don’t really have peers from outside my school to compare my performance with. Lately I’ve been selecting colleges in the U.S. and I’m not sure what kind of colleges I’m good enough for, so care to commend?

exam board: CIE

O-levels: English as 2nd language: A*
Biology: A*
Business studies: A*
Chemistry: A*
Physics: A*
Chinese as the 1st language: A*
Math: A
Additional Math: A

AS exam (based on my own prediction):
Economics: a
Psychology:a
AS math(pure&statistics): a
Chemistry:a
physics:a

no GPA, but I got straight As in psychology, economisc; mostly As in chemistry and math; but often Cs in physics, which is getting improved lately.

I think I could get 110+ in TOEFL and 2100+ in SAT 1 and 2350+ in SAT2

so how comparative is my academic performance would you guys say?

by the way, I’m a Chinese and don’t require FA, if u need that info
and myself is thinking about Chicago, Geogetown, Wellesley and Northwestern.
am I good enough for these schools, if consider only academic background?

I am sorry that my reply’s off the topic of this thread, but I think it might also be helpful for Superleader and any other students who are interested in A-level.:)

do o levels have the a* grade? i thought it was a1-a2-b3 etc etc. anyway, both your grades and your SATs are good. If your counselor predicts straight As and you improve your physics performance you have fair chances at all the unis. However, that is provided you have the usual ECs ie leadership positions, volunteering, awards…

My O levels were graded on just the scale from A to E… there was no A* or A1…I had all my percentages above 95% and my grade was A in All O level subjects…I think grading iz different regional wise…
@Kujalulu…i hav applied to northwestern aswell this year…and as u don require Financial aid…u r sure shot in!!!..i hav all Az in my AS…and O levels …i can guide u more after April 1st…which iz the decision date!!!

And Kujalulu getting into georgetown iz gonna be much easier…u don need to worry…

and kujalulu gettin 2100+ iz gonna be much harder than u think…i see u hav second language english…i had first language in O levels and my SAT was … u don wanna know!!!..
