I'm going to Davis. I'm really scared of math coz I did really bad on my Calc and Stat classes. Hmm... even at the CC level, I stil got 'C'. I cant imagine how can I survive in UC. Any advice or experience you can share?

Study your math. Get a tutor if all else fails.

I think the best advice though is “Do the problems”. I can’t emphasize that one enough, math is a ‘doing’ skill, and most people who don’t get math in reality don’t get that it takes practice. A lot of practice. To the point that you look at a problem and can analyze what you need to do to solve it-- before pencil meets paper.

Econ is math intensive to a certain degree. Certainly the kind of economists that get employed are the ones who can do good quantitative analysis.

Stats classes for econ at UC will drive you crazy! It never ends!!!

Advice: Get help if you need it. Stay on top of things…If you don’t get something in lecture, try your best to learn it right away. Stay positive and don’t stress.

imo the math isn’t as bad as all the stats…it gets to the point where you are like “I have to do a t-test again!” lol

hey! i’m an econ major going to davis too! let’s form a study group. i hate calc :D
