Are unused student loans counted as a student asset? I was helping someone fill out her FAFSA form for next school year (20011-2012). She has some of her student loan money left over from this year and she was planning to use this amount to help pay for some summer classes that she wanted to take. My question is does this loan amount, which is in her savings, count as an asset when we fill out the FAFSA form and does it lower her grant amount for next year?
Thanks,

By the way, I meant to type the word assets and not assests. Sorry! I don’t know how to edit my original post.

No, it says right on the fafsa directions not to include financial aid in assets/bank accounts.
