cool, that saves me a little bit. anybody know the range of the average GPA and the range of the standard deviation of the GPA for some past senior classes?

so, MIT doesn't count the classes you take during the first semester of your freshmen year into the GPA, right?

I don't know, my biggest fear is whether or not I'll be able to manage my time. I'm looking forward to going to class with smart people, even if it means that lots of them are WAY smarter than me. But I kind of have this aversion to work...

molliebatmit, I notice that you are a cheerleader, you are a MIT blogger, you are a student with double majors, you spend around 15 hours doing research per week, you answer our questions on CC like at least 10 times per day, yet you are also dating your boyfriend.

my question is: how come you have so much time to do all these things and still maintain a 4.51 GPA?

when do you go to bed? when do you wake up? how many hours (besides classroom time) do you actually study per day or per week?

I don't really know the answer to that, other than the fact that I've developed ninja time management skills during my four years here. I actually get better grades in terms when I'm taking more units, which I think is because I have to make plans and schedule my time more carefully than I would otherwise.

How much time I spend out of class has varied quite a bit from term to term for me; last spring, when I was taking 75 units, I was doing something like 15-20 hours of homework per week. This semester, I'm only taking 36 units, and I'm doing something like 1.5-2 hours of homework per week.

Mollie is an android. Can you imagine if she were real? How could any human ever compare? But MIT will be issuing copies shortly and if you attend, the lastest design will be there waiting to guide you through that Earthly Paradise. They even constructed a 'boyfriend' and had the wit to name him, get this, Adam!

actually, i think those who skip classes are wasting their $$$$$$$$ !!!!! Look, the cost of MIT tuition is like $33,000! Why would you don't want to go to class (with all these super excellent professors there)?

Some ppl function better not going to class. If that works for you, cool. I don't think I would do it at MIT....although I've done it in high school. I think I actually learn more when I don't go to class at my high school...how sad.

Personally, I have to go to lecture to learn anything, but I won't ever go to recitation. Other people can learn just as well by reading the book or doing the problem sets.
