Wharton obviously is the best when it comes to training students for obtaining and performing well at top finance and consulting jobs. I get the feeling, though, that Wharton students are pigeon-holed in these types of jobs without much breadth for other positions. Is this true or false?

False. Many Wharton students CHOOSE to pursue those kinds of jobs, but Wharton has been known for over 130 years for successfully preparing undergraduates for all types of business and management jobs and careers, as well as law school, etc. It has only been in the last 20-30 or so years (a relatively short time in the history of Wharton and Penn) that finance and consulting jobs have been the most popular types sought by Wharton undergrads (e.g., it wasn’t that long ago that about a third of Wharton undergrads went straight to law school upon graduating from Wharton).

To get an idea of the types of jobs pursued by Wharton undergrads these days, take a look at the last seven years of Career Plans Survey Reports for the Wharton Undergraduate Classes of 2007-2013:
