Our FA arrived monday. While it is fair, it is not as generous as some of the other schools my son is considering. It will cost about 25K more over four years, and entail more loans on his part, and more work study.

Thanks odie112586, I was able to view it through CAESAR. Wow, there's no other way to put it - Northwestern's financial aid sucks. Even Harvard gave me a $10,000 need-based scholarship while NU gave me none. If it wasn't for HPME, I'd definitely reconsider...

I can't complain about my FA from NU. I think they are quite fair in thier $ distribution. They met all my need. Thank god for scholarships though. I got $80,000 in outside scholarship money. $20,000 per year (Ron Brown-$10,000 a yr and a local one) and I only need about $5,000 per yr to cover loans and work study.

I've talked about financial aid in a few other threads, so I'll go ahead and comment here also. I got accepted into Northwestern, and my financial aid currently consists of $34,000 in loans. That's all I got. I'd really like to go to Northwestern, but this "aid" is ridiculous. There's no way my family can afford to pay this every year. Anyway, that's my situation. Hopefully my parents and I can find someway to finance my education.

Personally, I'm very satisfied (and surprised!) by the aid I got from Northwestern. My total financial aid will take care of roughly the cost of tuition, and almost 25K of that is in the form of a scholarship. The rest is pretty minimal loans and work study. I definitely wasn't expecting such a good package, after hearing all the stories about NU's financial aid.
