Gen ed distribution requirements. College Comp 1 and 2. CCs in my area give Bs to students who breathe and show up.
That’s true of some 4 year schools too…there are good and bad at both levels. That’s what’s good about the current system…some elites choose not to accept any comm college classes taken in h.s.; some 4-year schools are picky out what classes all transfers have some aren’t. It’s a competitive system, that in general rewards people who do better at better colleges . It’s probably NOT a step in the right direction to want every college to accept every comm college class, as frustrating as that might be. It gives comm colleges reason to improve. CC leaders spend a.lot of time worrying about their schools’ clases being accepted, & what they can do to improve things.
Furthermore, if u think academic quality at comm colleges is bad now, making them free probably isn’t going to help much.
