Arml

How should being in state ARML team be listed in application--acitivity or honor/awards? you are put on an ARML team (at least in my state) by statewide math competition--10,000+ kids take it but you must place at least top 100 and team is about 30 kids. I have done it only one year so far (two if you count this year--not yet though), so I am not sure where I should place this.

Would being on the team as a girl (and anyone who has been to ARML can tell the competition is seriously imbalanced in girl to guy ratio) be an interesting topic for essay, or is it kind of beaten to death by now??

any suggestions?

yes, list it if you have space.

This may be a stupid question ...but what is ARML ?

a well-known math competition

Being nominated for the ARML team is an award, and participating in math competitions is your activity.

I was on my state's (Minnesota) ARML team, and I listed "Minnesota All-Star Math Team" (a name by which we're sometimes known) under honors and awards, I think. I figured they'd understand it better than "American Regions Math League". You might also go with "All-State Math Team", since that's basically what it is.

What state, out of curiosity?

I am pretty sure my son had it listed under activities.

thanks guys. I will list the actual qualifying test award under honors section and the team as activities.

as for sly si's question, it's Michigan. Woot! mitten state!
