Art History

Is it better to study Art History at Columbia University where it is combined with Archaeology, or as a single honours degree for example at Yale? (I am not familiar with the US education system. I am an international student).

Monica, both Columbia and Yale are excellent universites in the US to study art history. The great advantage that Columbia has over Yale is its location. Columbia is locted in the art/cultural center of the United States. You will have access to great works of art and a thriving art scene in Manhattan. Columbia is located right in Manhattan in a safe, residential and student friendly neighborhood. You can take a bus, subway or walk anywhere in the city that you want to go.

Yale has a top art history department and a very well regarded collection of British art. However, New Haven Connecticut is isolated and a very poor, ugly and dangerous small american city. You can get on a train in New HAven and be in New York City in about 2.5 hrs. The only cultural opportunities in New Haven are at the university.
