I go to Wes. We definitely have the strongest Film program of those schools, but keep in mind that it is Film STUDIES, not Film Production. There ARE production classes, one can do a production thesis, and there are plenty of opportunities on campus to get involved with film production (working on someone’s senior thesis films, working with or joining the film co-op, etc), but the focus of the major is theory, and that’s what most of the classes you take will be in.

We also have fairly strong Studio Arts for a LAC, though the program is not as extensive as Yale’s. We also have really good Art History, though of the schools you mentioned Williams is probably most known for that. And we have great Music, though our strength is in more modern music as opposed to classical. Our econ is also decent, but it will be at any of those schools

So, basically, I think Wes is fairly strong in everything you seem interested in, though Film is the only program where we’re the best (but we’re pretty thoroughly so, IMO, except for maybe in comparison to Yale or Harvard, I’m not sure what their programs are like). Well, also ethnomusicology if you’re interested in that.

Yale is probably the best for Studio Art, and Williams the best for Art History. Harvard, being Harvard, will certainly get you lots of connections for later in life, but I’m not sure how strong their actual programs are, if that makes sense.

I know a lot less about Dartmouth, Amherst and Carleton in regards to the arts, though from talking to my friend from Carleton, I don’t think they are particularly arts focused. I could be wrong about that, though.
