I was filling out my application and was wondering whether or not the arts supplement on the middlebury webpage would be necessary if I am not interested in an Arts major. The page says that it is for those "who have a serious interest in the arts" and I intend to pursue the theatre and choir in college, but not likely past that. Would it be beneficial to submit the supplement anyway?

We struggled with this, but in the end my D decided not to do the supplement for a talent which she intends to pursue, but not as a major. She was still accepted. I don’t really know the answer to this one, perhaps modadunn, urbanslaughter, arcadia or obd can chime in. They seem very knowledgeable about all things midd.

My sense is that if the supplement is consistent with the package you are presenting in the common app, and if you have talent, it would add value to submit it as it would strengthen your story. But I don’t think it’s mandatory.

@dizikiwi - you would only do the Arts supplement if you feel that it tells Midd more about you and displays part of your passion and skills to your advantage.

Man, I would do it unless you think it will hurt you. It’s hard to get in and the more you shine, the better.
A current Junior sent a theater supplement despite her English major and was accepted as a Feb. Maybe that made the difference. I can’t imagine wasting a chance like that.
