if anyone has their opinion about this i would be very grateful, i'm not sure whether sending in one piece would hurt me. is sending one piece of artwork really going to have NO effect?

Honestly, yes at yale...those awards a much more powerful than the drawing itself...I'm sorry you went through that trouble, you could send it to the other schools but I really don't see the point.

i see. what if i just sent it in as like, in high school i didnt take past art III, but i just want to show one piece of my art? and that is detrimental? can you explain the logic though? i mean to me its just one piece that would add on to the cake.

well i called duke and they said that it wouldnt hurt or helpe because the admissions doesnt even see it unless the art department says so. is that the same for yale?

please read the website for yale...I am not an admission officer at yale, I'm only interpreting their words...so, check out the source:

"There are also cases in which mediocre submissions or too many extra items can work against a candidate. Supplementary submissions make sense when they add important information. If you have a particularly well-developed talent, you may send supplementary material such as a cassette tape, musical scores, slides, or writing samples. Please note that we do not evaluate videotapes or DVDs."

Sending in one piece does not demonstrate a "particularly well developed talent".

Sorry to sound harsh, but I am done repeating myself...And anyway, the slides are due by the 31st...its probably to late.

alright, thx really appreciate the help. in any event i think it says postmarked 31st right? so i think it'll work out if i do decide to
