I saw on another page that some Rutgers calls had gone out. It is the BFA Acting Dreams page on FB, with a lot of good information and a very supportive parent group. That page and this forum have been incredibly valuable to me as my daughter wades through this process. BAL.

Thank you! Rutgers has been code dark on our end. Probably will be a waitlist or no would be my guess then. Bummer!!
I think the general feeling is that no news is good news with Rutgers but wish you the best.

That’s good to know! I wish I had Facebook to go to that site! If you hear anything else holler at me! Thank you for the great info! Do you know of anyone who has received a rejection?

I don’t mean it in a “sour grapes” kind of way - but Univ of Ok was a mystery to us in how they rated talent / what they were looking for. My D did not get the vibe there at all. But was very impressed with their Tech program and also with Seth’s credentials. She had a workshop interaction last summer with the MT head (I think Ashton is his name) and she did not mesh well with him either. It was NOT her place, but could see a lot that IS special about the program that would be great for someone else.

Good assessment! Who knows what they are looking for! Not my kid, but that’s ok. She absolutely did NOT want to go to school in Oklahoma. In fact she wasn’t going to apply and I told her she had to because their program is so amazing. She was grateful for her callback, but still wasn’t crazy about spending 4 years in Oklahoma! Every rejection stings, but this school was not high on her list, so it’s ok. Obviously, not a good fit.

I am not sure. If I read anything about it I will let you know.
Was the Oklahoma rejection in an email?
My daughter as well! She is very excited!

We also got accepted from drake academically with financial aid info that included a fine arts scholarship but haven’t heard from the MT department yet.
We decided not to read anything into it.

My Daughter is a freshman MT major at OCU. She absolutely loves it. The program is not easy but the professors are fantastic. She is living her best life she says . Her freshman class is super close and she has already made lifelong friends. Congratulations to your daughter if she does end up at Oklahoma City University. I’m sure she will love it. We were accepted into several programs and she ultimately decided on this program.[quote=“Chocchipmint, post:156, topic:3602146, full:true”]
Congrats! My DD got the same offer with scholarship from OCU for MT! We will accept the scholarship by March 22, but won’t be deciding on a school until we have all the results in. Waiting on a good number of schools, so we’ll just have to see how this turns out. My DD did attend OCU for the summer audition intensive and loved being there, the facilities and professors. It’s a great option!

Congratulations!!! My daughter is a freshman in the Oklahoma City University BFA MT program and absolutely loves it. She says it is a tough program but the professors are amazing. Her freshman class is super close and have become lifelong friends in a very short time. She tells us she is living her best life. She was accepted into other programs but in the end decided this was the best fit. Good luck these next few months I remember it is a crazy stressful time.

My daughter did the exact same thing. The gap year allowed her time to concentrate on auditions and not feel near the stress. Senior year is stressful enough without MT college auditions to think about. When she got to college this past fall to start her freshman year. Her roommate was a musical theater BFA major who had taken a gap year as well. Her roommate did not like the school programs she was accepted to when she did MT auditions her senior year. As a result she decided to sit out a year rework her audition material and try it again. She was accepted into one of the schools she was hoping for the second time through and was glad she decided to give it another go.
