Arts Supplement

Does anyone know if the visual arts supplement has to be on slides?
Can you send in a CD with the artworks instead?

I'm pretty sure it has to be slides. I sent in slides this year and so did 2 other people I knew who applied to Columbia ED...

"Artistic slides should be kept to one page and
highlight the best work in your portfolio." (from the app)

they say music CDs can be sent but say nothing about art CDs...so just stick with slides.

Send in slides...I did. The funny thing was, I actually met with the chair of the visual arts department and showed him a printed portfolio of my work, and he said that the visual arts department liked getting prospective portfolios in binder form, the way I had mine. When I met my admissions officer later, I told her what he had said and asked her if it was alright that I sent a printed portfolio instead of slides--and she told me the admissions office would really rather get slides. I decided not to take my chances (admissions officers are the ones who, ya know, admit you) and I just sent a sheet of slides. It's annoying and cost-prohibitive (I wonder if colleges realize how expensive they are), but it's what they want.

all right, thanks a lot guys, ill go with slides

can a recommendation from an art teacher work as a substitute instead of slides of art?

actually, i sent in an image sheet of my 12 best photos. that's what everyone who wasn't applying to art school specifically did from my school.
