What are your best tips that would’ve made your high school life better and had a better effect on your college admissions/future? What should I know? This can be anything from dating to high school grades to SAT vs ACT.

Do what makes you happy and develop a passion for it. Get good grades, but don’t stress yourself out. Don’t spread yourself too thin. Find your dream school, and do whatever you can to get into it. For me, it was too late. By the time I found my dream school, I was already under-qualified. Take the SAT/ACT in your sophomore year, and study for it by taking practice tests. The more familiar you are with the test, the more your score will improve. Be a leader, not a follower. If your friends give you crap for being ambitious or smart, they are not your friends. they are only holding you back.
Last and most important, enjoy your time in hs. Don’t turn out like me where I am a rising senior and not looking forward to my final year. HS should be fun, not stressful.
Stop (or don’t start) worrying about college, but keep up your grades. Explore a variety of ec’s to find what you like. Do them for fun, not because you want to impress someone.
Also, I wouldn’t really start thinking about a dream school too seriously. Although it may be nice as a goal to motivate you, I think you will find other interesting schools in the next 3 years - and some may be better than your “dream” school.
Keep your grades up by practicing good solid study habits (start projects early, any study habits book will do) and start studying early for the SATs by taking practice tests and correcting your mistakes. After that, find something (or a few things) that interests you and become good at it, join organizations (or create them-even better) that relate to it and try to do innovative things within the organization and the world that actually makes an impact. Don’t do the same clubs that everyone else does but do something that will impress the admissions officials-and fulfill your own goals and ambitions (even more important).

Very well said. Do what YOU want to do, even if it is ,in your friends’ and in general your peers’ opinion, the “nerdiest” activity possible…believe me, in the end, only the nerds will make it.
Do not take heed to any high school garbage that is thrown at you. Stay dedicated and good luck.
