As a pre-law student looking to get into a T14 law school, disregarding LSAT scores, Letters of Rec, and EC's, what's the minimum GPA I should hope to maintain?

Thanks

For T-14, anything above a 3.7 will be fine, assuming you have a T-14 worthy LSAT score. For HYS, a 3.8+ is more likely.

For every other law school, anything above a 3.3 is fine. Just remember the LSAT is the majority of your application. You can have a 4.0, but if you score a 155, you’re going nowhere. The general rule is, the higher your LSAT score, the more flexible your GPA can be. It doesn’t really work as much the other way around.

A lot of it depends which of the T14s you’re gunning for, so check Law School Numbers and look at the 25th percentile stats (which is as low as you should really look unless you’re a URM). Certain places like Boalt are going to grade-whore while others like NYU or CLS put [relatively] less weight on it. Then you have places at NW that are so keen on work experience that getting in K-JD (with no requirement to defer) is close to impossible.

Just finishing up my cycle for C/O 2015, so you’re welcome to PM me if you have any other pre-law questions.

LSAC-weighted shoot for 3.8+

And listen to MiqueMaus – the dude’s going to a T3 next year!
