As in standard courses or Bs in honors?

Which do colleges like to see? I went to a brief college information course at my high school and they told us that it was better to take all accelerated (the standard course level at my school: they offer ap, honors, accelerated, and then college prep) and get As than to take all honors and get all Bs. This was really surprising and kind of upsetting to me. Is that true?

True for top private colleges, not necessarily true for state schools using formulas. But in all honesty for really top colleges you need As in your school’s hardest classes.

I believe all admissions officers say its best to get As in all honors

wait so they are saying it’s best to get A’s in standard courses than B’s in honors?? if that’s the case i have no interest in going to whatever school has that mentality

@redroses: wait so top private colleges wants As in standard courses? or state schools?

i will most likely not be going to a public school, my parents and brother both went to private so that’s what they want for me.

it’s just frustrating to know that i take all honors courses and work my butt off for my 4.5 gpa when i could get a 4.5 by getting all A+s in standard courses (which would be MUCH easier and way less work for the same gpa)

They would rather you get an A in a standard course that is more your level. They wouldn’t want to see you earning mediocre grades in course that are too hard for you. But of course, As in honors classes are always best :)
