A's instead of SAT 2's?

Hi, the thing below is from the yale site. I was just wondering if anyone has done this? Any idea if it would look better than sat 2’s? (i.e. just seeing an A instead of a 750 for phys and so on)

I plan on calling them tonight (stupid time difference…) just to get a clearer idea on this. However since there is no sat 2 for subjects such as economics im guessing I can’t use that one?

if anyone has any experience with this pls let me know

thanks

Standardized Testing
Application requirements include the following standardized tests. You may choose between taking either:

• The SAT I and three SAT II Subject Tests (any three Subject Tests are acceptable for example: Math Level 1, Math Level 2 and Literature)

OR

• The ACT

There are two exceptions:

Students whose home countries (e.g., mainland China) do not have a testing center are, of course, exempt from these testing requirements.

Students enrolled in A-level programs may use COMPLETED A-level results as a substitute for the SAT II Subject Tests on a one-for-one basis provided official test results arrive at Yale by February of 2007. Predicted A-level results may not be used as substitutions.

Umm, I'm pretty sure that's not what it means. It means an A-level program which is a different test, I believe; it does not mean an A in a class.

A-Levels are tests given in Britain that are roughly equivalent to our APs. That's what they're referring to.

sorry i guess it can be confusing its just that when anyone here refers to 'A's' they're talking about a levels... i have my completed a levels. just to clarify my question

When it refers to one-for-one substitutions, does it mean that

1) I can only substitute 'the equivalent" A-level for the equivalent SAT 2? (e.g. A level math can only be used as a sub for SAT 2 Math (one or two I assume?), A level History can only be used to replace SAT 2 intl. history etc..)

or does it mean,

2) the 3 SAT 2's requirement can fulfilled by any 3 A levels.

If it is (2), would I be able to use the following combination to fulfill the 3 'SAT 2's' requirement? (I) A level History (ii) A level Physics (iii) A level Economics. (My confusion here arises as there is no SAT 2 economics)

sorry if it was too confusing earlier

Well when you apply, there aren't required SAT2 subjects that you have to take, so I would assume that that would be ok. It is a standardized test, so they know what level you are on.

oh yea that would make sense. thanks. i called them yesterday and the admissions officer i spoke to seemed to think i could use any 3 but she wasn't sure so she gave me the email of someone in intl admissions. hopefully ill get the official answer soon but it sounds promising :)
