as long as everyones comparing schools, Cornell or GT

honestly, i wasnt too excited to get into cornell seeing that it came a day after duke engineering (my dream school if god existed) rejected me.. plus i applied to the CAS out of fear id be rejected from them both. Well bitterness aside, i now must choose between georgia tech engineering and cornell where id have to wait a year to transfer to the engineering school. i would much prefer georgian weather to new yorks, but since gatech is 3rd in the nation for golf, id have a better shot at cornells team... its hard to tip the scale in one schools favor when i dont have much desire to go anywhere besides Durham... what should i do?

well i think u can take all the cornell engineering courses while ur under the arts and science thing..but im not too sure,...search i member seeing this kinda thing...and eng program u thinking of?

not quite sure what youre asking, but im not sure what field of engineering i want to persue.. i have in my head patent law.. so whatever engineering will give me the best chance at law school and best job opportunities... maybe chemical

I faced that same decision last year and decided to go to GT. I'm majoring in Aerospace Engineering.

I don't know that much about patent law, but I'm assuming you'll want more of general engineering degree than some of the really specialized ones we have at Tech, like Aero, Nuclear, or Polymer and Textile Fiber Engineering. Mechanical's probably the most general.

I don't know if it's possible for you, but I'd suggest visiting both schools and taking a look around. Tech is in the heart of Atlanta, but has it's own distinct campus. Cornell's in Ithaca, but not a whole lot of other stuff is there (at least not compared to Atlanta). The weather's typically better here. Don't forget financial aid, too. Even as out-of-state, you'll save about $13-15k per year at Tech.

Above all, I'd suggest visiting sometime just to check out both campuses.

that decision must've been easy for you 'cause i dont think cornell has an aerospace major.. i do intend on visiting both but i have a feeling thats gonna be good for cornell.. idunno anymore.. definetly not looking forward to college

I thought cornell offers aerospace..its part of the mechanical engineering department or something...

There were 5 kids from my school last year that went to GT and I know they are mostly unhappy with the school.

Both Cornell and GT engineering are among the best in the nation. Ranking wise, GT is higher but that doesn't mean much since either one is highly respected. Cornell is ivy league and more people know of the school. In terms of golf, Cornell has a pretty good team. They compete D1 in the ivy leagues and place pretty well there.
