As the school year comes to an end...

I’ve learned lots of things:

Friends aren’t always who they seem to be. (Or look. Or say.)

Never leave your friends behind for a relationship.

Don’t be afraid of change. Look back once and move on.

Your appearance isn’t everything. Your brain and personality count too.

But the number one thing I’ve learned is:

 1. One bad grade isn’t the end of the world. You can trip once or twice going up the stairs, but guess what? You’ll make it. It’s really showed me how I can keep up my GPA even with a few non-impressive grades.

…and I have no doubt that we’ve all learned a few very important lessons this year.

Feel free to share what you’ve personally learned here!

arrogance wont earn you any As
Be confident in yourself
pay attention to chemistry lecture or be prepared to pay the cost

I agree with 5, 4, 3, and 2. I disagree with 1.

Dont study at the last minute, unless you really want to.

I agree with all of them.

Um..what I learned...not ranked...

When you throw 8 tons of info into your brain, it squashes you like a bug.

Coffee, in small doses, is your friend, but too much your teacher advises you to see the school psychiatrist.

If you haven't been sick at all, expect to be ill during AP/SAT or ACT testing.

Murphy's Law is true, especially right before an AP test when you realize you forgotten something but can't recall it.

Teachers aren't out to get you, it's the administrators.

True friends will pester you when you've entrenched yourself in too much study, while pseudo friends will quiz you about obscure facts that aren't really on the test.

TV steals time.

Procrastination is worse then TV.

English essays are not to be done when you're sleep deprived.

An extra 3 hours of sleep is worth more then 3 hours of cramming.

When Johnny study all day and doesn't play, paranoia starts coming in.

MMORPGs are the new crack, avoid at all costs.

Seniorities is contagious especially to juniors.

Rank and GPA isn't that important compared to friends.

EC are for fun not for college.

Keep your friends close, your enemies closer.

An Honorable mention lesson: Tennis Racket + Housefly = Bloody Nose.

9. English essays are not to be done when you're sleep deprived.

I wish I had known this a couple months ago. :D

Lucky I reread it before turning it in...it was a train wreck.

-Try not to get caught up in the moment too much
-Think before you speak

TritiumKnight
"12. MMORPGs are the new crack, avoid at all costs"

I fully agree with this lesson :p.

^ What are MMORPGs?

...If you have a REALLY BAD FEELING about something, don't do it.

MMORPGs are Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games...

As to what I've learned:
1) Red Bull is not breakfast.
2) Coffee is not lunch.
3) You can't eat an essay. Or sleep on it. Or do anything physically useful with it.
4) Theses should be worked out at least 3 days before the paper is due.
5) It's awkward when you get accepted into a position that your friend also applied to, but got rejected.
6) Friends are awkward. Period.
7) The phrase, "Don't bother me, I'm working," is not small talk.
8) Don't have a crush on a teacher. It's useless and stereotypical.

oh and another thing:
sparknotes does not substitute for reading the book, unless the book is Scarlet Letter

8= lol..we only have a very uncomfortable male teacher then we have the former principal turned back to english teacher...hes amazing..i love him..
my old hs thats another story...

1= don't tell ur bffae that ur gonna tell "him" u like "him"..THEY wolnt ****..begging u to tell him..
2= dont study days b4 its useless cram the night b4 and the day off the answers r fresh...
3=reading the answers wolnt help if ur teacher gives u a sheet of ur final and says memorize these letters in that order and u will have a garunteed 11 points on the test gather ur friends and start chanting them....eafkijgdbhc= those answers...b/c i chanted i got everyone of those right..ohhhhhhhhhh
4=dont crush on a guy u donnt get a long w/ all that well he might threaten to do something really bad to u...
5=If u do #4 dont miss school for a week after the threat b/c ur "sick" u will need to make up on a ton of work...
6=stay behind when u get said boy in trouble...u will have a lot of time laughing ur ass off at ur principal yelling and screaming...
7:make sure said boy has anger management problems it will make #6 a ton of fun...
8: if u end up missing school theres a good chance the kid will be yelled at and be told to be nice to u again after a couple of months of forced being nice u might realize u guys can consider eachother aquaintances and u have a massive crush now on his good friend..
9: dont expect ur retarded bus company to remember u get of 2 hours early after the finals...bring a good book u might be waiting a while

and all of these r true

What I've learned in this horrible (academically at least) year:

1) Always take one LESS AP class than you think you can handle.
2) AP Physics C is a personal curse sent from hell.
3) Snow days actually screw you over. (We had something like 12 and our calc class got way messed up and didn't spend enough time on series)
4) I am not an A student. Any more.
5) But that is not the end of the world (as I always thought it was).
6) Although SparkNotes save lives, reading the book yourself IS actually more fun and worth it.

before-school classes are a bad idea all around.

watch out for passive-aggressive teachers.

the number of hours of sleep is not the be-all end-all, and worrying about it does not help you fall asleep.

a haircut that allows you to literally fall asleep on your wet hair and wake up looking fabulous....really all you need.

if there's nothing you can do about something, stop worrying about it. as hard as that is.

Don't procrastinate on the college admissions process. Make sure you do everything ahead of time.

Know you're counselor--as a senior, when you need him/her to write recommendations you're going to need them.

Live life--don't get so caught up in grades and test scores. You only go to high school once (or twice depending on who you are). Enjoy it.

Don't procrastinate on anything!!! You're only putting unneeded stress on yourself.

-Have some school spirit! You don't need to go crazy, but it's fun.
-Do what the OP says...put yourself out there. I don't think I did that enough, and I regret it.
-Learn time management. It is possible to get straight As and have many EC's without killing yourself.

1) Don't invest too much faith in teachers.
2) I can never commit to the professional study-er life.
3) In ten or so years, grades won't matter (I have yet to truly understand this one)
4) Don't let London and Tolstoy persuade you to live for two months in Alaska--it's just not worth it, man.
