Being a potential international student, I’m in Europe not the US, I was looking around and stumbled upon Ashworth College [Online</a> College Degree Programs ? Accredited Online School - Ashworth College](<a href=“http://www.ashworthcollege.edu/]Online”>http://www.ashworthcollege.edu/) Now from what I can make of it they are accredited by some bunch called DECT, who are in turn accredited by some US Governmental Department (Dept. of Ed I think) But then I also heard their accreditation had been pulled or something but on their site it says they are still accredited, anyone know anything about this?
With me it’s all down to cost, maybe it shouldn’t be but it is and they are pretty reasonable - yes they are for-profit, yes they aren’t a brick and mortar setup but at the end of the day it’s still a qualification that hopefully will go some way in the real world. They have an array of Associate Degrees and the 4th semester is free so you get 4 semesters for the price of 3, handy, and it’s about $1100 per semester for the initial 3 semesters once a discount is applied for upfront per semester payment, that is all in even including international postage and they even give you the course books etc. Again, handy.
I’m not totally new to online learning having obtained a CertHE in Criminology <a href=“http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certificate_of_Higher_Education[/url]”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certificate_of_Higher_Education</a> ( that was 70 ECTS - that’s European credits) from a British university last year and earlier this year I did an undergraduate course in Russian Studies worth 7.5 European credits with a Swedish university. The online/distance method seems to suit me, to an extent.
So, does anyone have anything to say about Ashworth? Would it be worth trying it out or is someone heading for a fall if they do, even if they get their degree is it useless in the real world? Thanks.
p.s: If anyone knows of even cheaper Associate Degrees by distance/online for an international student do please share! Thanks.
