Asian-Americans post here...

just kidding. I just needed people to rate my chances.
Hi, I’m a high school senior planning to apply to Boston University ED.
Well, i’m from New Mexico…here r my stats:

ACT:30
SAT 1300 (horrible!)
Top 3% of class

Other little awards…not anything amazing.

I have LOTS of community service. I also tutored at an at-risk middle school for 5 years. And I tutor a 5th grader and a 5 year old.

I think my test scores will really hurt me…my SATs. I’m taking the SAT IIs in November.

Oh, senior year classes:
Studeng Government
AP Calc
AP Physics
AP ENglish
AP Biology
World History
US History
Gifted Mentorship

People have been telling me that its an advantage as a Asian girl from NM but I dunno…I have good extra curriculars but do you think I will have a chance at Boston
Yale (WAYY reach)
Stanford (Ditto)
UT Austin
Rice (Also reach)
UCLA
UCSD
NYU

Are you sure you want to apply ED to BC? You don't need to send SAT to schools that accept ACT. (I think ACT 30 is better then SAT 1300). You could potentially get into many schools on your list (other then maybe Yale and Stanford), but ED will cut your choices.

You are within range of BU...Yale, Stanford, and even Rice may be a reach. I'm not sure how UCs will look at out-of-state applicants. Looks like all your choices are in urban areas. How about the women's colleges?...Smith or Scripps.

If you are totally set on BU, then go ahead and apply ED. But if there is somewhere else on that list that you would rather go and really need the ED then you might want to consider that, because I think there is a very good chance that you would get into BU Rd.

I've decided to do early action. I hate the fact that Boston University's ED program makes you decide in December. I wish it was non-binding. SOo, I am just going to apply EA. Yea, I know Stanford and Yale are a reach...should I even waste my money on applying? My scores are pretty low.

I would definitely NOt want to go to a women's college.
