I got in for poli sci and I had a 3.44 and a 1620 on the SAT's...my SAT II scores were worse and i got an F in precalc my junior year...i'm pretty sure your in as long as you get the 3.4 by the end of the year

Well if I don't, would I have any chance at being accepted? Like if I were to end up with a 3.3, or a 3.35, would I stand any chance?

Yeah, you're fine. I got in with a 3.3 and a 1930 for Sociology. You could probably still get in with much worse stats.

xyz: You definitely have a good chance, I'd say more than likely. UCR is usually known to accept any students that meet the 3.0 minimum, but I know they have to cut admissions a bit this year. Tough to say how much that is affecting admissions criteria.

How is the engineering program?
How is the intellectual environment? Like do people have "nerdy" discussions about politics, science and the like?
How are the classes in difficulty?
How are the professors?
Is the reputation good? Like, I hear a lot of people denounce this college, is it really that bad?

The engineering program is solid, and a good portion of UCR students are in it. I feel like most of the kids in my math and science courses are intelligent, though the ones in my philosophy course are not so much. As for intellectual environment, it's tough to say. I'm not the type to have overly nerdy discussions about politics or science, so I haven't really associated with those types of people. Not to say there aren't some intelligent discussions to be had, but a lot of the conversations are just normal conversations. I'm going to just say that some kids are dumb, and some kids are smart.

Classes vary greatly in difficulty. My chemistry class was extremely difficult, while my philosophy class this quarter is very very easy. You're definitely able to either challenge yourself or take the easy route, it's up to you.

I've had a lot of very good professors. No one has changed my life or anything, but they've all been solid and knowledgeable.

The general understanding is that it's better than most cal states and worse than most UC's. Many people bash on Riverside, because it's in a lame area (it is). Some people have serious prestige issues, but those people are wack.

Thank you for answering my questions.

Also, how is the quality of dorms/ dorm food?

Meh. I don't really have a point of comparison, but it's not very good.

well i'm not a student but I have been to ASB camp for 2 summer and I would say that the dorm are pretty nice. esp. Pentland hills the new ones. theyre not lik "omg best thing I've ever lived in", but none the less on par or better than most.

I stayed at PH one year and Lothian last summer.

How's the Greek Life at Riverside?

EZDay: Pentland dorms are nice, in fact, all the dorms are pretty nice with the exception of West Lothian, which is ghetto. But all the others are fine.

Greek life is alright, it's tough to say much about it because I'm not involved. I see plenty of people wearing fraternity related things all the time, and they throw a lot of parties. All I can really say about it.

how's the food?

The food is bad.

how are the girls?

are they nice, pretty or mean and ugly (internally and/or externally)

like how bad?(the food)....like 1/10 bad or what?

and i'm wondering about the girls too...

^ the food here is pretty bad
like a 4/10
but you get used to it after a while.
i'd recommend you get the flex max meal plan so that you don't have to use your swipes in a cafeteria, but you can instead go to commons, scottys, or convenience store to buy food which is definitely a lot better than eating in the cafeteria

The girls are alright. There's not as many hot chicks here as at other schools (cough UCSB), but there's some. I think it goes without saying that there's a variety of pretty and nice girls, and ugly and mean girls, haha.

mean girls are not kool

mean girls the movie is cool.

hows the GYM??
any spots for personal trainers??
im a certified pt with work experience at a local fitness club and was thinking that would be an easy way to get money in college.. how is the facility though?
