Ask a Student - Anything

I’ve heard that colleges like Harvard and Stanford weigh in leadership as a huge factor in picking students compared to many of the UCs. is it true? In my case i’ve become president for my student council for 2 years and i currently just became a sophomore.

Leadership looks good because it shows you put more time into an EC, then just showing up. It shows an extensive level of commitment to any EC. I don’t know if it’s a “huge” factor, but it is a factor. There are other ways to show commitment: awards, paper/thesis, recommendations from advisors, and more.
