Ask a Wellesley First-Year

Hi, I was wondering if any of you current Wellesley students would be willing to chance me for Wellesley? I’m a senior and I’m super nervous that I won’t get accepted because of my stats…it would put my mind at ease a little bit if an actual Wellesley student could chance me.

Can someone tell me about the Honor Code Council?? Does it actually work? My school government tried to start one of those at myschool and it turned out to be a show; the teachers who are “advising” make all the decisions.

I’m not on the honor code council, nor have I broken the honor code, so I can’t tell you how the council itself works specifically. I would be surprised if the H.C. Council is just for show though. College students (especially Wellesley ones) are expected to be more mature and “self sufficient” than they are in high school. The honor code at Wellesley is a big of life at Wellesley. For instance, there are unproctored self scheduled final exams. It is wonderful to be part of a community where everyone trusts each other.

Hi. I have a question. I e-mailed my professor asking for an extension before my final paper was due, but the prof never answered my e-mail. I ended up sending him the paper a week and a half after it was due but I got an automated reply saying he was on vacation until the start of the new semester. Do you think he will have given me an Incomplete or an F? Was it his responsibility to answer me, or was it okay for him to ignore my first e-mail asking for an extension? Are professors allowed to fail students in these circumstances if they want to? (I had about a B+ without counting the final paper.)

Any insights would be appreciated.

Happy new year.

You should contact your Dean ASAP and explain the situation. Because you didn’t contact the Dean earlier and didn’t actually get approved for an extension, it’s conceivable that the professor could fail you, but failing students is a lot of work and the professors/Deans are very often willing to work with you. Best of luck!!

Hi, I have two questions.
I was accepted ED to Wellesley and I’m wondering when to send my marks in.
Do I send my first semester finals when they come out or do I send all my marks in at June?(when I’ll have my second semester marks)

And another thing, are we going to get a course catalog in the mail?

Thanks in advance! :D
