Ask away- it's UChicago Prospective Students Advisory Committee

Walrus, I’m not aware of anyone and I am not at liberty to share that kind of information. If you are interested in speaking with a student athlete on campus, though, definitely e-mail psac@uchicago.edu with your questions and we can set you up with someone!

m0baik01- SATII Subject Tests are not required by UChicago, so sending them in is not necessary. If you really want to send them in, you are welcome to, provided you are an RD applicant- the time has passed to send in credentials for the EA cycle.

If I want to change my common app. short answer,

do I need to submit “update” on my UCHicago account homepage??

or should I email Uchicago counselor???

plz help!

If you are applying EA, you do not have the ability to change any portion of your application (unless for some reason it is factually incorrect- address wrong, etc). If you are applying RD and would like to make changes, follow instructions on the Common App supplement page and in your Chicago Account, and e-mail your regional counselor if you have problems.

Grace, if this has been answered somewhere by you or on the UC website, I apologize. Are admissions decisions mailed as well as posted on the account? Do you know details on when they would go in the mail, Dec 15? And this question is pushing it, if they are mailed, do you know if the acceptances are “thick” ?

Hi Grace!

I have some questions regarding my missing credentials, but do I call the general admissions office, or my regional counselor?

Oh and I’m also confused about SAT scores…I heard that if I’m missing official SAT score reports for early action, Chicago only needs a COPY, any copy, of the scores for evaluation…is this true? Will you still evaluate the application with only SAT scores reported by the high school, and wait for the official copy to come in later?

Thanks!

Jackief, acceptances are mailed as well as put on to the account. We will make an announcement when decisions become available online; we will only put them online once everything has been put in the mail.

And oceanangel- right now I’d advise you to call the general office line (not your regional counselor, as they might not be in) and they will connect you with a counselor if necessary.

How may application were received for EA??? It’s about time that the university publishes that number… Some of its peer institutions are talking about their EA/ED numbers by now…

chill out…chicago will put out its numbers when it has all its stuff together. besides, knowing now wont help your chances anyway

Everybody take a deep breath and relax :)

Grace, are you saying that for the EA applicants, UChicago is no longer accepting any supplement? What there is a new award or publication of research work? Thanks.

There is space on the midyear report for applicants to talk about any extra information- new awards, research publication, etc- that they wish to make known. If you’re incredibly concerned about UChicago seeing something before your EA decision is made, contact your regional counselor to see if you should send it in- we’re just trying to discourage people from sending in a new writing sample, a revised essay, etc. without asking beforehand. Remember, RD applicants- the time to get your information in is by the application deadline! Think beforehand about whether or not you’d like to submit additional information, and please contact your regional counselor before sending any new information in after the deadline has passed.

PCP- I got the impression from the following that those types of updates would be appropriate, this is from the “update your application” link in the account area

My D was planning to mention a change in her course list from what is on the common app. It sounds like Grace is saying neither of these are appropriate for EA applicants. Is that the case, is this info not added to the files? Should an email be sent to the regional rep instead? If so, the website is deceiving, and maybe if the time for these updates is past for EA applicants, this section can be taken down.

Hey, um, sorry if this has been asked before but: how good is UChicago’s financial aid for internationals? I’m really in love with the school from what I’ve heard of it, but I’m an international who needs heavy F/A. How hard is it to get financial aid? How stellar are the apps of the fin aid. receiving intls, usually?

@jackief: My personal interpretation was that it was ok to use the update form for awards, schedule changes, etc., but not for sending in entire essays.

Secret, so maybe whatever can fit in the little text box is the right amount of info ;)

Jackief, sorry, I should have been more clear- yes, do use the update box for minor updates- you misspelled your middle name on accident, you dropped AP Spanish, you got a new SAT score, etc. Sending in new or completely reworked essays or an additional supplement, however, is not OK by this point unless you’ve cleared it with your regional counselor.

Hm…would a more detailed (yet still short) explanation of what one of your EC’s was be allowed for an ‘update?’

Or how about first quarter grades?

Like I said earlier, if it fits in the text box, you’ll be fine. Really, though, unless whatever you send in is drastically different from what you portrayed in your application (say, you used to be a lackey but are now Supreme President of the World in your EC, etc), you’re probably going to be fine if you don’t send it in, so don’t worry about updating every little thing.

Hi Grace!

I’m just about ready to send in my music supplement. Do you know if I need to send in copies of the musical scores along with my audio recording? Thanks!
