I am a homeschooled student. Does this mean I need to include anything extra with my application? Duke asked for a reading list so I will probably be including one, but is there anything else in particular that would be profitable to include?

How important are SAT scores to UChicago as opposed to other schools?

I’m concerned that my transcript makes no sense whatsoever. My counselor probably couldn’t explain it, it’d take me at least 2 pages, and our only counselor is being replaced after this year. Namely, my transcript defies a few laws of physics, any logic, and almost completely contradicts any of the basic information my school has on its profile, as well as any of those basic questions about a school on an application. Any advice?

I’ve heard of students sending resumes, I assume that if one applies online they’d send it via snail mail…is it OK if I send a CV? I feel like my “life,” as it were, would be clearer in a CV format.

Who comes up with all of the awesome post cards? I taped the caffeine molecule right next to my wall-model of serotonin. =)

I accidentally submitted an earlier draft of an essay along with my supplement. I tried using the update option on my Chicago account, however there wasn’t enough space for my whole essay. While I managed to post two of the paragraphs that were most affected, there were some formatting issues. I don’t want to lower my admission chances in any way, so what should I do? Should I make arrangements to send a replacement? Is that even doable? Does anyone have any suggestions?

@puneur and Confused92- you should contact your regional admissions counselors. Let them know your situation, and they will tell you how best to correct it.

@ people with question on the Midyear Report: Please have your high school counselor submit a midyear report with grades or transcript for your first semester or first trimester by February 1, 2010, or as soon as possible thereafter. The Common Application provides a Midyear Grade Report form, or you may use your own schools midyear report.

The site says we should have an account assigned within a 48-hour timeslot, but my app was downloaded on the 31st and I have yet to receive an email. Is this just due to application volume or should I be worried my materials haven’t been processed?

@rainbowcandy: do not worry- application volume has been causing us to get accounts out later than 48 hours after signup in some cases. Rest assured that we will let you know well in advance of decision time if you are missing any documents.

Is it too late to send more supplementary things such as rec letters? I have one more that I could send in that could boost my credentials. Would I send it through common app?

@Radddd- if it is a piece of material required for your application, you may send it in. However, it is now too late to send in supplemental material.

could you tell me if hispanic students (especially mexican-americans) are recruited more into the university? also, do you have the numbers for how many mexican-american (or just mexican) students are enrolled at the college right now?

@dudemancool- no, sorry, you are much too late to submit an RD application at this point- while we did have some wiggle room with the common app for a few days earlier this week, the deadline has now passed.

and @robespierre, yes- all students (EA and RD) need to submit the Midyear Report. You may use the Common App midyear report form or, if your school has its own form, submit that.

If I were to submit a letter of interest to the University of Chicago, is it too late to do so, and if not, when would it be too late? And would you recommend e-mail or snail mail for this?

Hi, I am a recent EA admit and I had just quit one of my (non-core, but functions as an extracurricular) classes. In the midyear, would I have to attach an explanation for quitting this class, and furthermore would this be grounds for rescission? thanks.

@trackster- this is definitely not grounds for getting your admission rescinded- but I would definitely include a short note about your decision to withdraw from the class in the updates portion of your midyear report, just so we know.
