Ask me questions about UMass!

Oh and will I end up getting bad housing if I doubt sign up till end of june?

For hazing I cannot really give you an honest idea because 1. I didn’t go through it and 2. I’m assuming sororities and frats will all be different in many ways. From what I know in my friend’s experience, they had a tough schedule on their plate and were not given a bid. However, hazing ranges a lot from the greek orgs and frankly I don’t know much about them other than the kind I have seen (like being made to wear certain clothes for example).

For housing, there are first year halls in all of the main residential areas so I think housing at least in a certain area will be easy to get but it depends on what you want. Some areas are more popular that others, and many ppl end up living in Southwest cuz it is the biggest residential area. If you have a specific building or area you want to live in, look into the RAPs because you are guaranteed a spot in that building.

These should be my last questions:

1) Would living in southwest be bad for a Kinesiology major? not in terms of parties etc. more in terms of getting to/from class in a reasonable time.
2) How is the food there? I hear it’s amazing, but I mean in terms of health/variety etc.

Thank you for all your help. Just trying to get perspective from a student haha

I am not sure to be honest where most of the Kinesiology classes are. I just checked my school course catalog and a lot of them seem to be Totman gym? Which is in the complete opposite side of campus from Southwest. What you should take into account however, is that if you want to be closer to the Rec Center, SW is the way to go. There is also bus shuttles so it honestly doesn’t matter where you live if you are good with planning.

The food is amazing and depending on where you go there is a huge variety of foods to choose from. Berkshire is considered universally the best (and the newest) place but honestly the food is all good compared to other colleges. Just know that most of the big food events will happen at Worcester and Berkshire as those are the biggest/main dining halls. You’ll have a chance to eat at Worcester during orientation and I believe Berk as well so you’ll see first hand.
