chemical biology is one of the hardest majors on campus chemical biology with a strong emphasis on chemistry. if you’re more bio oriented go biochem mcb. if ur premed stay away from both

Chemical biology would be more Organic and Bio chem right? If so, I would assume it’d be ridiculously difficult. I like Bio more, so it seemed more interesting.

I actually do want to do premed, why should someone avoid those majors?

Is there any benefit from going to CoC?? I’m just curious, I don’t even expect to get in or do well in it.

because they are difficult. unless you want to challenge it ;)

Not sure if the benefits would outweigh the costs. lol.

should i pick large classes with 20% As or small classes with 40%?
The large classes are 5-7 times the size of the small classes.
The small classes are the honors versions of the large classes; i have background in the topic areas (5s on AP exams, but tested over a year ago).

Which one do you think is easier to get an A in? i.e. what’s harder, beating the curve in the larger class or difficulty of honors material?

I have been trying to figure out my schedule for first semester and I was wondering if you could schedule back to back classes. For example, could I have a class that goes from 10-11, and another that goes from 11-12, or is there no time to walk. Are the classes actually an hour or 50 minutes which would allow for walking time?

what is the best class to fulfill the american cultures requirement?

Thanks in advance.

Galloping Goose,

Classes always start 10 minutes after what is posted on the official schedule.

What do we do at CalSO? Where do we stay?

You will stay in a dorm, probably Unit 3.

Is it possible to take just the courses you expect to LOVE your first sem., without worrying about requirements? I’m thinking of a new language course (Slavic probably), art history (what are good courses in art hist?), philosophy and either psychology or chemistry or photography. What’s good in these fields?

is it possible to take two seminar classes in one semester?

I want to ride a scooter around campus, and am gonna be living at Foothill. What can I do so that it doesn’t get stolen, and where can I park?

I posted this on my another thread but no one replied. I was wondering if you guys can help me out

I already graduated from high school but my transcript has July 2009 as the date of graduation. This is due that for some IB test takers in my school, July is when the IB results come out and thus ‘graduate.’ Should I not worry about this and ask my counselor to mail my transcript now or should I call Berkeley?

Fabxx: Berkeley will not mind that your transcript is one month off. Besides, if they had any questions, be sure that they will call you or your high school and ask. Don’t worry!

Razpra: If you can get into the classes and enroll in them, then you may. I don’t see why not. The freshman seminars aren’t really any work and so I wouldn’t count them as actual units per se.

Bokitch: I would recommend seeing if the classes that you like get you any requirements done. Chances are that a lot of them will. I also suggest thinking of some majors that you may be interested in and seeing what requirements they require (and what other requirements they might fulfill at the same time) before taking any classes. You want to hit as many requirements as possible if you want to graduate on time (or even early).

does anyone know of some good off campus housing, you know - apartments that are generally filled with college students? preferably in north campus.

I was looking on the football website and the only time it mentions seating in the student area is if you buy a student season ticket, but can students get into the student area without a season ticket, like are there single game student tickets available?

FRESHmans are eligible for free tickets.

I am assuming kroeber and Dwinelle are buildings in which classes are held?

If so, how far apart are they? Is 10 minutes enough time?

Yes, Kroeber and Dwinelle are both buildings. 10 minutes is enough time for that walk if you take the right route. You’d be surprised by how far you can walk in 10 minutes.
