- Economics major (interest in liberal arts)
- Quite involved on campus. Part of campus institutions like FEI/Rose/KLI. - Member of scholar communities like PPE/Dreier/RDS
- Extroverted but also not excessively so
- I can answer most questions about CMC and campus life, including concerns about non-drinking social scene, other Claremont colleges, and diversity.
sorry but i don’t know what your chances of getting accepted are!
Ask me anything!

What can you say about the 3-2 Econ-engineering program? How much more work is it than the typical CMCer? Do you know what schools they go to for their last 2 years (I’ve heard Mudd, WUSL, Colombia, Stanford)? Do you see this program as a big benefit to simply getting an engineering degree without the Econ degree?
Lots of questions – thanks for your time.
Dorm personas and personal recommendation for which house to house in?
also which WOA would you recommend?
It depends on how much of physical exercise you’re comfortable with! Typically, more outgoing people tend to pick the more high energy trips. Personally, I chose river rafting and loved it (and I’m not athletic).
Choose something you’ll enjoy because you’ll have to make conversation/interact with the others while doing it!

ABOUT DORMS:
North quad is the most social. There are two doubles that share a bathroom, making a “suite.” The rooms face outwards so that also increases social vibe. Honestly, north quad feels like a lifestyle. It’s not possible to live in NQ and be friendless. But the trade off is that it’s quite noisy, not much personal space, and rooms aren’t quite as nice.
South Quad are the 3 towers. Auen and Fawcett are the least social dorms on campus. I personally regret being place there my freshmen year cause it’s relatively harder to meet people or just chance upon a pre-game. PRO: you get good sleep and personal space. Also, keep in mind that floors are gendered.
Stark is the substance free dorm but it’s the most social SQ dorm and actually has it’s own counter culture going on. They have a computer lab, a pool table, a communal TV where people play video games, and a piano. If you don’t mind the substance rule (honestly, all the parties are in NQ so there’s no necessity for substance anyway) you should pick Stark!
Mid quad is the happiest medium. This is best scenario for a freshmen whose not sure how social they want to be. Choose this if you don’t feel strongly either way. Crown Hall and Marks are the quietest mid quad dorms and it’s unlikely you’ll get them because upperclassmen.
Hope that helps!
Most popular seems to be Columbia and I think USC has also been recent. A lot of people want to escape the Claremont bubble and Mudd is pretty competitive- so I don’t think it’s super common.
I think it’s a matter of maintaining a certain GPA and taking some classes - and you’re essentially guaranteed a spot. It is hard work of course, and I know lots who end up dropping the engineering major all together.
3-2 seems most popular for people who want to do Financial engineering. I suppose econ coursework does help if you’re trying to start a company in tech. My personal opinion is that if neither of those statements sound like you - or if you’re mostly interested in engineering- it might be worthwhile to do that for 4 years instead of 2. Again, don’t know much about the program so can’t confidently advise you.
Is it mandatory to live on-campus as a freshman?
What is best/appropriate to wear for a freshmen interview on campus (male)? Is a suit and tie too much? Sport coat? Thanks for any insight.
How are the consulting prospects?
