How hard is it to get into Fordham with a 3.76 overall high school GPA but only a 24 on the ACT. BTW I have a job, play sports, and tons of extra curricular activities.
is there a track sport club at fordham
Hello @mrdilettante! I will try to answer your questions the best I can.
There really isn’t too much to worry about in regarding overlap. Both campuses are very different. The Lincoln Center campus has an “artsy” feel to it since many of the undergraduates are in the theatre/dance programs. I know some majors/classes are only available at LC. My daughter had expressed interest in Irish studies but that was only offered at LC. But if your schedule allows, and there is something that interests you, you can make arrangements that would allow you to register for a class at a different campus. My daughter never did it, but she knew someone who did take a class at Lincoln Center while living at Rose Hill.
As for geographic diversity, I will say this much, Fordham has gone out of its way to attract more kids from around the country (and world). My daughter has friends from Florida, California, Maryland, Louisiana, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Minnesota, Texas, Massachusetts. These are the ones I can think of right off the top of my head.
Hope this helps. My daughter graduated last May and I pop on here every now and then to give an occasional insight.
Good Luck!
Thank you @MomTheChauffer! All valuable insights – much appreciated. We’re intrigued with Fordham. Best regards!
Hi! I just had a quick question regarding Fordham at Rose Hill and Fordham at Lincoln Center. If you enroll at Fordham Rose Hill lets say for Gabelli undergrad, will you be able to still use services at the LC campus such as the library and different eateries. Since you have to pick between the two I would assume not, but then again I have heard people who take a class or two at the LC campus even if they are enrolled at Rose Hill. Thanks in advance and congrats to admitted EA students!
Your Fordham ID permits entry to university facilities on both the RH and LC campus. And students are definitely allowed to take classes on the other campus. There is a shuttle bus (Ram Van) that goes from one campus to the other.
Hi there! I am currently a senior and applying to Fordham University. I do not know what I want to major in yet, but I do know that I will be applying to the campus at Lincoln Center. How difficult would it be to internally transfer after my freshman year from the Gabelli School of Business at Lincoln center to Fordham college at Lincoln center and vice versa?
Do honors students generally get full scholarships/full tuition? Also do they get better housing/their own rooms?
Just received a parent letter saying orientation would be Sunday 8/26/2018. For us in NC it is the day before younger siblings start school so that could provide a challenge for both of us parents to be able to go if my son ends up at Fordham. Can someone tell me more about Freshman orientation and when dorm move-in would be in relation to this orientation date and when parents typically leave after dropping their kids off? TIA
Hello @croaswife! I just double-checked the academic calendar and that Sunday the 26th would be Freshman Move-in Day. If your son does decide to attend, he will receive an email stating what time to arrive on campus. So assuming he is assigned Martyrs Court as a dorm and he is asked to arrive at 11:00AM, you would get to campus at that time to move in. They have the parking lot all roped off and you would drive to your assigned area and they welcome you, calm you down, give you some water and then give you directions on how to drive to the dorm. You get there, and here’s the easy part, the members of NSO will welcome him and then they empty out your vehicle of his stuff (I’m serious, this is the best part) and lug it all to his room (his dorm assignment email will give instructions on how to label all boxes and stuff), and when he goes in to get his key you drive back to the parking garage and you can leave your vehicle there so then you can either walk back or take a tram back to the dorm and help set it up. There are some things planned for parents to set them at ease and the President’s Speech usually happens at 4PM. Afterwards is Mass outside the University Church by Queens Court, then you say your goodbyes and then he goes off for his own orientation that happens that evening.
I managed to find last fall’s schedule - and looking at it, it doesn’t seem to have changed much since I did move-in back in 2013.

When my daughter moved in, I left right after Father McShane’s speech which was around 5PM. I know they ask parents to say their goodbyes around 6 or so, after the Mass, this way they can get on with the big candle lighting on Eddies (the “Go forth and set the world on fire” event that made me cry like a baby when my daughter sent me pictures).
Hope this helps and offers some insight. Let me know if I can shed some light on any other concerns you may have also!
@MomTheChauffer thanks so much! That is helpful information.
Something to consider- Fordham offers a fantastic program called Urban plunge. Students apply to the program which does community service in and around the Bronx for a few days before orientation.
Should you child get accepted, he could arrive at school the Thursday ( or Friday) before and get all moved in. Then you wouldn’t have to worry about the conflict.
Can students at Fordham fit in both an internship and a semester abroad and still graduate in 4 years? Something in the back of my mind tells me I read somewhere that this was not possible and a drawback for someone choosing Fordham but I can’t find it anywhere.
Looking at my DS’s potential AP credits he could get 18 credits for non-major./electives and 18 credit toward core/major.
croaswife, yes, it is possible–D had several internships in four years including one while studying abroad.
@marc12 - awesome thanks!
