If you ever sometimes check this thread, I wish HYPS could somehow create a special, “Make a Wish” style Zoom class aimed at seriously ill, homebound, brilliant high school students who are too sick to go to college.
I noticed someone like that posting on Reddit, and I just know in my heart that any HYPS professor who’d read the posts I’d read would be weeping about that kid, too, and would want to sneak that poor kid a link to a low-key English lit class, or a low-key writing class, or some other class or campus organization that was suitable for a bored, brilliant, homebound, sick teenager.
But I have no idea who to approach at the universities, and it’s also hard for me to advocate for that kid because I have no idea who that kid actuall is. It would be great if I could just post a link she could use to have her doctors contact someone at Harvard, or wherever.
